About This Project

 Rebuilding a website as expansive as this one takes a lot of work. The original PHP site ran into a quarter of a million lines of code, with 90+ database tables, over 400 stored functions, satellite systems and an impressive 0 pages of documentation. Managing code was practically impossible. Open Road rebuilt the entire core of this website, reducing the code weight by almost 30% and improving response times for all users. New processes were created to address the intricate permissions required to maintain the many staff, contractors, clients, projects, locations, roles and assets the site depends on. The entire code base is now documented and version controlled and changes can be made easily and safely for the first time in a decade.

 This website evolved over five or six years, as and when new needs came along, but it was done without the necessary professional planning. As a result, it was very complex and troublesome to update. The Open Road planning and design process was clean and simple, and the rebuild has made the whole site much easier to work with. The convenience of managing mailboxes, a complicated permission matrix and client data directly from the website can't be overstated. The new control panel brings everything together in logical sections and the alerting workflows are amazing! I'm extremely satisfied!
