Finding good seeds is the first challenge I've come across. Big garden centers, and even small gardening stores, mostly cannot be trusted to provide safe seeds. Their stock is usually from big ag firms that use toxic crap like Roundup (a chemical weapon) on their soil. Those that are from medium-sized local farms are usually not organic, and that means they can be genetically modified, cross-bred, and sprayed with more poison than you want to know about.

In the quest for clean seeds, as with anything worth doing properly, you need to find small, organic growers whose very purpose is to provide an alternative to those awful things. That's going to take lots of searching, phone calls and emails, but when you do locate a reliable source, you'll be set.

Seeds are pretty cheap and the wonderful thing about them is that, once the plant is growing, it will produce its own seeds, so you really only need to buy them once in your life. From that point on, they'll be free, and you will know that they're the same organic, heirloom seeds you bought in the beginning.

As I live in the Czech Republic, I've located PermaSeminka.cz, a small, organic grower, whose seeds are all produced without chemicals, and with the attention of a careful and knowledgeable gentleman, who tests each variety of seed in his own garden, and only sells those that can be grown reliably, without chemicals.

Another great resource I've discovered, and now make great use of, is "Plant For Change". Their website contains a world-wide organic seed directory that you can add to, if you find a local grower that isn't listed. You can find that site at PlantForChange.org, and their Telegram group, at t.me/PlantForChange.

Once you have seeds, you can find lots of useful info on their Telegram channel, regarding when to plant and pull each type of seed, depending on your climate and other factors. It's very useful for beginners, like me.
