Over the past couple of weeks, I've been enjoying watching the plants starting to poke through the soil, over in bed 2...

And now, I've finally pulled the cover off bed 3 - the tallest, at 60cm - and started work.

With my simple tools, I've filled up the bed with soil from the other end of the garden and marked out the spaces needed for the roots of each plant, with string.

My planting plan reminds me what I have in each space and when it was planted, which I hope will keep things moving.

A layer of grass cuttings keep the soil moist and give the insects something to feed on and live in...

...and, of course, a copper coil, to give the bed a boost...

...and a bunch of mixed fruit and vegetable waste, to give back some nutrients, and help the soil to be fertile.
