As I continue to develop Burtman as a creative outlet and a technical information source, I sometimes come up against the old budget constraints. And while I fund this project from my own pocket, lightly subsidized by hosting fees and small donations, it might not come as a surprise that I often can't complete (or even start) a project, due to the funds it demands.
While talking to a close friend about the imminent possibility of having to return to the office (bringing an end to my office-dodging career), a suggestion came up that I was initially reluctant to entertain, but having thought about it, and seen many other creators employing it, I thought I'd give it a try.
So, here it is - my wishlist:
The purpose of this list is not to solicit new toys, nor to convince others to pay for my things. It's to show those kind souls who do support me, where their kind donations are being spent. Nothing is wasted and everything is hugely appreciated. I thank you in advance, in case you feel compelled to support my creative endeavors with a small (or gigantic) donation, as you see fit. It makes a huge difference.
Project Goals
Fabric Scissors
For my sewing projects, I could really use a pair of medium-sized fabric scissors. They cost about €30.

Snare Stand
As part of my music education, I am focusing on snare drum technique.
I'm an experienced drummer, but I never spent the necessary time on snare drum technique, and now I'm finally facing it. :)
Since I move about quite often, I sold my last drum kit. A snare stand will let me practice rudiments and polyrhythms again.
Thank you to my mystery donor, who sent me a new stand for my old Mandala drum!
Cello Mute / String Silencer
I am fortunate to be able to play my rented cello during the day, but a mute would be a wonderful addition,
allowing me to keep the noise down in the evening, when I really feel like playing. They cost about €16

I'm sorry to say that my time with cello is about to come to an end, so I will no longer be needing this.

How I Give Back
As I learn new skills and develop old ones, I love to put them to work for the benefit of those I care about - which includes all my supporters and friends. In recent weeks, I've been learning to sew, and have created several bags, one of which now lives in Portugal, protecting a sound recorder I also outfitted with a few accessories. I'm happy to be able to pass on my good fortunes, when I have them, to other creative people, and I appreciate the ongoing support of those who help me in the same way.
If I can't keep this project alive, I will continue helping, wherever I can. That's important.
