A few years ago, I was fortunate enough to live in Spain for a short while, and during my time there, I steeped myself in the culture as much as I was able, sucking up the customs, speech, mannerisms, music, habits and food like a native. Sorry for the mental image.

Spain is a musical place. Everywhere you go, someone is playing something, singing, dancing, clapping... While living in a camper bay in Montjuïc, I had visited the city for a while and was walking back up the steep hill, when I heard accordion and guitar coming from a garage. With the shutter lifted only a few inches, I could enjoy it without my presence interfering with it. I was as a fly on the wall, listening intently to a couple of guys working out some arrangement. Other times, I would hear people singing to themselves as they did the laundry, walked along the street, or bathed the dog.

There's flamenco on the streets, cajones, guitars, all manner of percussion and voices everywhere. Even an older lady who sat with a large keyboard and played to passers-by on the wall of Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya.

The energy of Spanish music is infectious and beautiful. I just have to show you.
