Circlip removers are similar to pliers, but they have thin, cylindrical ends that are used to locate the holes at the ends of circlips. The type of circlip remove you need for a given job will depending on whether the circlip is on the inside or outside of the part it secures.

External circlip pliers open when you squeeze the handles together, stretching the circlip. Internal circlip pliers close, compressing the circlip.
